HiNet respects and values your privacy. To help you understand how HiNet collects, applies, and protects your private information, please read HiNet’s privacy policy carefully. This document will help you to understand how HiNet collects and uses your private information.

How HiNet collects individual private information…

Based on different services, HiNet will collect different types of information from the user. When participating in various online surveys or activities, HiNet will ask for your name, ID number, phone number, e-mail address and physical address.

1.	WebSite sign in When using HiNet web search services or changing personal information, HiNet will ask for your email address and other information.

2.	HiChannel services When you register for HiNet website services such as HiChannel, Hinet will ask for private information like nickname, full name, telephone number, physical address and e-mail address, based on the service you are trying to use.

Online E-commerce
When using HiNet transaction platforms to perform e-commerce transactions, to track products purchased, service categories, and buyer information, HiNet will collect this information from online and offline sources. This information, such as product type, amount purchased, and price purchased at, as well as buyer information (name, address, phone number, birthdate, gender, occupation and interests), recipient information (name, address, phone number) and billing information (credit card number and expiration date or bank routing information). If user elects to connect to 3rd parties to perform e-commerce transactions, user must be aware that these 3rd parties have their own privacy policies and their data processing and privacy procedures may be different from HiNet procedures (HiNet is not responsible for any misuse or abuse of private information by 3rd parties).

In addition to the privacy policies already outlined, HiNet will also retain your website browsing records including sites visited, IP addresses, access time, and browsers used. HiNet retains records of which websites are accessed by which browsers – however, HiNet does not track this information by user unless you give your private information to HiNet for tracking purposes. Please be careful when using websites that advertise with HiNet or are affiliated with HiNet because they may collect your private information as well. These other websites and corporations have their own privacies policies and HiNet is not responsible for any misuse or abuse of your private information in connection with these other websites.

Aside from information submitted by the user to these websites, HiNet is not responsible for any misuse or abuse of private information transmitted through HiNet chat rooms.

HiNet Policy regarding the application of collected personal information

Online activities and website surveys.

HiNet collects user names and national identification numbers for HiNet lottery purposes. Telephone, e-mail and physical addresses are collected for the purpose of notifying users if they happen to win HiNet lotteries, as well as demographic analysis, but not for any other purpose. Other collected information is used for business and marketing analysis and research. Unless users specifically release their personal information to HiNet, HiNet will not use personal information for marketing or other purposes, and will not make this information available publicly.

Once you have registered for HiNet services, HiNet will only use your personal information to design and improve existing and forthcoming HiNet services. Usage records, such as browser usage and web site traffic and click analysis will only be analyzed from a group viewpoint, not according to individual users, so there is no risk of loss to individual privacy.

HiNet 3rd Party Information Sharing Policy.

HiNet will never sell, exchange, or lease your private information to other 3rd parties, except in the case of the following two situations: 1) To offer you other services or promotions (such as coupons) - however, before HiNet exchanges information with 3rd parties about such services or promotions, HiNet will ask you to release your private information, and you will always be given the option to deny this release of private information. 2) If in the case of public safety and a formal and legal government inquiry has been made, HiNet is obliged to release personal and private information to formal government agencies that make the request.

HiNet Business Information and E-mail policy.

Upon registration, HiNet will ask the user if they want to receive business information and e-mail or if they do not. HiNet will not send any unsolicited business information or e-mail to users who elect not to receive this information.
